November 3: Chronicles 4 today by Br. Kari
Theme: Favor is not for idlers.
Text: Matthew 20:7 (NLT)
“They replied, ‘Because no one hired us.’ “The landowner told them, ‘Then go out and join the others in my vineyard.’
Reflection:
One of the reasons many people end up doing nothing with their lives is because they are waiting for someone to hire or employ them. They have been trained to go to school and then wait for employment. While this is good for some people sometimes, it is important to realize that God has given us the capacity to create jobs for ourselves.
Today’s reading confirms this idea that some people are stagnant waiting for opportunity to present itself to them or tell them what to do. As the master passed through the market place he saw people standing around doing nothing. Knowing that there was work to do and he could pay them, he asked them to go work in his vineyard. This reveals to us that God does not encourage idleness nor does He bless the idle.
Are you idling around waiting for someone to tell you what to do? Is it possible that you can find out how to invest your time and energy rather than waiting ? God has given you gifts, abilities and the capacity to figure out something to do with your time that will bring glory to Him. Find something to do instead of waiting for someone to tell you. God has blessed you with the capacity to take initiative.
Prayer:
Father in the name of Jesus give me the capacity to take initiative instead of idling around waiting for someone to tell me what to do in the name of Jesus. Amen
See you at the top!
