September 12: Chronicles 4 today by Br. Kari
Theme: Just like you!
Text: Genesis 5:3 (NLT)
When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who was just like him-in his very image. He named his son Seth.
Reflection:
Many paternity disputes have been settled just by looking at the child. Some children so resemble their parents to the point where a single look at them tells who their parents are. Unfortunately, while these children resemble their parents physically, they do not resemble them spiritually. This is a shame because the best gift parents can give their children is to set them on a spiritual path~where they can grow a loving and lasting relationship with the heavenly Father.
Today’s reading reveals to us that Seth had a striking resemblance to his father, Adam. This resemblance in itself was proof of Adam’s paternity especially since he was 130 years at the time of Seth’s birth. This is the same kind of resemblance that God wants us to have with him so that when people see us they will, without doubt, recognize who our Father in heaven looks like. The first believers were called “Christians” meaning “Little Christs” because they resembled Christ in their words and actions.
Are others able to see your children and immediately discern their spiritual heritage? When people see you can they discern that you are “a little Christ” or Christian? Do not just to resemble your parents physically, try to resemble them spiritually. Above all, do your best to resemble your Saviour Jesus Christ so that the name you bear, Christian, will not be in dispute. The world will easily see God when believers begin to reflect and resemble Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, enable me to resemble Jesus in all things so that my testimony will not be in doubt in the name of Jesus. Amen
See you at the top!
