August 20: Chronicles 4 today by Sis Fri
Theme: Yahweh Shalom – God is Peace!
Text: Judges 6:24 (NLT)
And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means “the Lord is peace”). The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day.
Reflection:
I recently watched a fascinating and engaging documentary which explored people’s deepest desires and found that everyone longs for peace. People seek rest, relief, and describe a peaceful life as true wealth. We all yearn for peace, especially in times of fear, instability, and uncertainty.
Israel was experiencing unrest and oppression from the Midianites, leading to widespread distress. While in hiding, God revealed Himself to Gideon who then built an altar and named it Yahweh Shalom meaning – the Lord is peace. This name reflects the peace that comes from having a relationship with the Lord even in trouble.
Are you overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, depression and fear? Do you currently long to experience peace? You can experience peace in that trouble if you know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. He is the “Prince of Peace” who gives peace to every longing heart irrespective of their present circumstance. We cannot control the uncertainties of life, but we can find peace in Jehovah Shalom – The Lord is peace.
Prayer:
Yahweh Shalom, You know all my worries and the things which make me restless. I worship You for granting me an unusual peace this day and always, as I walk with You in the name of Jesus. Amen
See you at the top!
