November 5: Chronicles 4 today by Br. Kari
Theme: There is cause to rejoice.
Text: Nehemiah 12:43 (NLT)
Many sacrifices were offered on that joyous day, for God had given the people cause for great joy. The women and children also participated in the celebration, and the joy of the people of Jerusalem could be heard far away.
Reflection:
Some people spend their time looking at the things that God has not done or still to do and forget the things that He has done. This is because humans are generally selfish and tend to focus on the negatives rather than the positives. However, everyone who will walk with God must learn to look for reasons to praise Him in bad situations rather than reasons to blame Him.
Today’s reading teaches us that the people offered sacrifices and were joyous on that day because God had given them cause for great joy. They recognized that God had done something for them and they were joyful thus they offered sacrifices of praise to the Lord. Their joy was so obvious and could be heard far away.
Do you realize there are things that God has done for you which should cause you to rejoice? Have you praised Him for these things? When God gives you a reason to be joyful, you respond by sacrificing to him in thanksgiving. Why not take time off today and write down your blessings and deliberately thank God for them? God wants you to rejoice over what He has done rather than complain about what He hasn’t.
Prayer:
Father forgive my ungratefulness and help me look at what you have done rather than what You are still to do in the name of Jesus. Amen
See you at the top!
