November 4: Chronicles 4 today by Br. Kari
Theme: Favor attracts full wages.
Text: Matthew 20:9 (NLT)
When those hired at five o’clock were paid, each received a full day’s wage.
Reflection:
Most people see God as a “Father Christmas” God who just goes around lavishing people with gifts even when they do not deserve it. While it is true that God favours, shows mercy and has unfailing love it is also true that He runs a reward system that is greatly determined by the work one puts in. This is why He keeps hiring workers all the time.
Today’s reading teaches us that there is a wage even for the last-minute worker. As long as one commits to do the work he has been assigned even at the last minute, God is committed to paying them a full wage. The eleventh-hour favour causes one to be paid in full even when he has worked just a few hours just like those who have worked a full day. That is a favour!
Do you think it is too late to work for the Lord? Does it feel as if God is not able to pay you for your labours in His vineyard? If you want the 11th-hour blessing, join God to work in His vineyard. God has all the resources to pay fully those who join His work even in the 11th hour. Give yourself totally to His work and you will receive the 11th-hour wages.
Prayer:
Father I commit myself to work in your vineyard even in this 11th hour. Bless me as I serve you in this last hour in the name of Jesus. Amen
See you at the top!
