November 10: Chronicles 4 today by Br. Kari
Theme: Beware of pride and arrogance!
Text: 1 Samuel 2:3 (NLT)
“Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! For the LORD is a God who knows what you have done; he will judge your actions.
Reflection:
Every good runner knows that it is unwise to carry an extra load in the course of a race because it will prevent them from giving their best performance. For this reason, runners are usually forced to lightly dress up and are stripped of any weight they may have. The purpose is to allow them to perform at their best. So too there are attitudes that constitute weights which if not dealt with, will cause any believer to fail.
Hannah in her prayer to God recognized that pride and arrogance are hurdles that should not be entertained in God’s presence. She admonishes us to watch out for what comes out of our mouths ~ for God weighs our words and judges our actions. He sees our hearts and knows that those who walk with that attitude of arrogance will eventually fall.
Have you examined your heart and life for traces of arrogance? Are there elements of pride in you? Many started the race in humility but fell on the way because they did not watch out for pride and arrogance. God knows you completely and will deliver your heart if only you cry to Him. Pride, haughtiness are walls which block blessings from manifesting in your life. Let go of pride, there is nothing you have that was not given to you.
Prayer:
Search me O God and know my heart, try me and discover my thoughts, cleanse me completely from every sin of pride and arrogance in the name of Jesus. Amen
See you at the top!
