Text: 1 Samuel 16:23 (NLT)
And whenever the tormenting spirit from God troubled Saul, David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away.
Reflection:
Music holds significant power as it can bring a spiritual presence into the lives of listeners. The spirit of the musician directly influences the type of spirit that permeates the music. When a musician is filled with the Holy Spirit, their music will be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Conversely, if influenced by evil forces, the music opens portals to demonic world. Therefore, the impact of music on a person’s life is undeniably determined by the spirit that the music carries.
Today’s reading recognizes the power of music as it reveals what happens to a man who listens to the right kind of music. When Saul was being tormented by an evil spirit, which made his life unlivable, he was advised to invite the young shepherd boy David to play anointed music for him. Whenever David worshipped, the spirits tormenting Saul would run away, and he would find relief from his torments. Such is the power of godly music, bringing the presence of God, peace into a person’s life and forcing demons to flee under such environments.
What kind of music are you listening to? Is it music that invites the presence of God or demons in your environment? Music is powerful and either brings evil forces into your life or sends them away. Do not bring into your space music that introduces evil into your life. Consistently listen to music which attracts the presence of God and reminds you of His Word.
Prayer:
Father in the name of Jesus, give me the grace to discern every type of music i listen to. May the music i listen to drive out every form of evil from my life as it introduces your presence into my life. Amen
